Hi Kerry,  This is L.C., the litter mate to your Huckleberry, who I saw on your web page a couple of years ago. (L.C. was born 11-1-94, and I got her from L P in Michigan a couple of years ago.) Leann is a wonderful dog trainer...L.C. and all her other dogs descended from L.C. are special.  My friend Dave took her goose hunting last week, and she had no problem figuring out the program and going in and retrieving two geese after they were shot...first time she ever went goose hunting.  She is an excellent swimmer. Of course she is excellent on pheasants and grouse, too.  L.C. is a real blessing. I got her for my Mom a year before she passed away, and she was a wonderful companion for us. Last year I had her certified as a therapy dog, so I take her into nursing homes, she has the perfect disposition for that. The older people recognize English Setters right away, since they or their parents hunted over them in the 40's or earlier, unlike many people nowadays who mistake them for Dalmations.  L.C. is almost 10, but has the energy of a 4 year old...constantly running, investigating...never walks, just runs. She is a one in a million dog.  I just wanted to share that with you. My friends teased their lab-owning duck hunting partners, that this little setter outdoes their duck dogs.  I am also the one who bought an orange male puppy from Ike and Bonnie last year, for my friend's parents...he is doing great as well.  Sincerely,  J G   .........  Michigan

Kerry,

We have so pleased with our new addition to the family.  Dakota is just like one of the family.  He gets along with all of the other dogs and the kids great.  Please see one of the attached pictures of Dakota with us on vacation and I introduced him to pigeons this past weekend and he had a great time.  A good friend of mine, B.C. is talking about coming to see you for a puppy later this fall.  Thanks again......K H

What can we say??  Look at that pup!!

Dear Schorsch Family:

The puppy is doing well.  He and our other dog, Lucky, get on very well.  (see photo)
We've named him Jake and will send in our paperwork soon.

Thank you.  S K

Looks like I'll make my annual pilgrimage this year during the week of 12/13. Hopefully you'll be around and able to get out. Perhaps THU the 16th? I'll at least stop by for a visit.  Regards to Marion and the dogs.....mn

P.S. Here's a picture of Zip from an early Hun hunt this year to add to your collection.

Just wanted to send an email and thank you for our wonderful puppy.   This is 'Volney Allen' and he was from the Panzer/Blacksmith litter of 29 March 2004.  Because all the pups from this litter were already spoken for, we didn't get to 'choose' our dog (we took the last one available).  But we are not sorry!

Volney just turned 8 months old, and he is the most marvelous dog.  As we watch him grow, we are amazed at his stunning beauty, and tremendous intelligence.  We aren't training him on any field exercises, but he is quick to learn and eager to please in other areas.  When he was asked to pose for this photo, he did exactly as he was asked and made sure he 'sat-up' nice and straight for the photo.

This is  our second setter, and if we didn't have a tiny car, we would certainly love another one of your dogs.  We often joke about buying an old, turquoise school bus and getting one dog for each seat!  They are simply amazing!

Kerry,   I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know how my latest blacksmith pup is doing.  She is out of blacksmith and ruby.  She is following in the steps of her older half sister, who is out of blacksmith and cupid. Let me say that they are the hardest hunting setters around.  And as you can see in the attached pictures, they have style to spare.  This is storm, my ruby pup.  At six months old, she does it all.  Points hard, holds her birds, backs and retrieves to hand.  She makes all of my buddies think that I am some kind of trainer, LOL.  If they only knew that all I had to do is take her out!.   I am sending you another picture of my older female out of blacksmith and cupid. Anyone around New Jersey way that wants to see how a blacksmith pup hunts, e-mail me and I will show you a hunting machine!  S.H.   ..........   New Jersey

A friend of mine at work is starting to look for a setter pup. Is there still two females available from the Julie x Powerball litter, and are you expecting any Blacksmith sired pups soon? He and his family are looking for a gun dog and companion. Hope ya'll are doing well. I attached a picture of Havelock Katie Elder, Blacksmith x Jayne 03 litter. She is about 10 months old and rock solid on wild quail in the picture which is from last season. She is as good or better than my 5 year old Blacksmith x Huckleberry female and she is not even two yet. My friend has her littermate and she is doing very well also. Happy holidays.  B.M.  .................  Texas

First. let me apologize for not contacting you sooner to let you know that the pup arrived safe and sound.  He has been with us now for just about a week.

His registered name will be Havelock's Chimney Sweep.  We call him Bert.  He is one great pup!!  I imagine your crew spends some time with these litters by the time the pups go to a home.  He already comes on verbal command.  We have him in the house and has started signaling to us when it is time to go outside to go the bathroom.  I know he is a pointer by breeding, but already show me signs that he will perform retrieves as well - he likes to play fetch.  T.Z............  Minnesota

Ralph E. Setter was the best dog afield on a recent hunt for wild quail.  No one else out that day was finding birds, including one hunter with six dogs.  Ralph was hunting by himself and kept us in birds for hours.  A quail he was pointing flushed on its own, so Ralph took two sidesteps and pointed again at another bird.  A truly great dog.

Kerry, a few shots of Clara (Aug 8th litter with Spy and I believe Dickens ). Couldn't ask for a better dog!! Terrific

R. R....... Minneapolis

Mack is wonderful.  He is spoiled rotten, sits on the couch and watches football with me.  But you ought to see him in South Texas.  He has taken to the fields just as you knew he would, a great dog and a great companion even at less than 6 months.  Hope all is well in North Dakota.   B.W.  .........  TX

Kerry and Marian,  I am very sorry to have read about the loss of your champion Blacksmith. He is the father of my puppy, Murphy. I only hope that Murphy can become half the dog his father was. I couldn't be more happy with my pup and his first season of hunting surpassed anything that I might have expected. Blacksmith obviously passed on his instincts to Murphy and many others.  S.N...........Minnesota

Greetings!

We are the proud owners of Mick.  We purchased him from you in November 2003.  He was from a litter born May 31,2003.  We love Mick, he is a great addition to our family and an outstanding hunter.    L.B.  .................   ND

Hi Kerry and Marian, Just a quick note to tell you how pleased we are with the two puppies that we purchased from you. I never imagined buying two puppies over the internet, your breeding program came highly recommended to us and we are thankful that we were able to get the puppies from you. We got two males from Havelock Blacksmith and Havelock Katie litter. Sammie and Dodger have made quite the impression on the local English Setter enthusiasts. They have already shown the natural instincts for hunting at a young age and we are very pleased with that. Their disposition is wonderful, they get along with our older dog and also our 4 ½ son.  Our veterinarian was amazed with the complete health records that you sent with them, they said they usually don’t see puppies that have come from a breeder with such excellent health records, up to date on all of their shots and also worm free.  They got a glowing report from our vet on their puppy check-up. L.O.-Wisconsin

Kerry, here are some photos of the puppies that we got from you, as you can see they are already proving themselves at a very young age! Thanks again  T. O..................Wisconsin

Kerry,  I now have a 9-month old Blacksmith pup that is doing really well.  She points like crazy and just loves working wild birds from horseback.  I’m very happy with Lily, who I registered as Blacksmith’s Daughter, both AF & AKC, and expect her to do very well in the field and competition.  She’s a sweet dog and my family is happy with her as well. Please feel free to use me as a reference, should you wish.  L.S..............Idaho

Kerry,  I just wanted to let you know how happy we are with the puppy.  His feet haven’t hit the ground with the kids holding him all weekend.  He is definitely going to be loved.  When I bring him outside, he checks everything out and has his nose down the whole time.  I even thought he went on point for a second.  I look forward to seeing Max grow into a wonderful hunting companion.  Thanks again and I’m sure I’ll be talking to you within the next two years about another puppy.  Take care.  J.H. ...........  Minnesota

Hi, I'm sitting here by the window watching my pup, Angie, stalking-pointing sparrows in the backyard. She's smart, pretty, docile, and I'm delighted to own her.  Regards, T.H.  ...............  New Mexico

Kerry attached are pics of me and Dixie (out of Powerball and Toni) on a recent Saskatchewan goose trip.  What a great dog, she does it all with style!

Kerry,   I just wanted to send you my thanks for having such great dogs.  We love the setter pup we purchased from you last November.  He is is a wonderful pet and is turning in to one of the finest bird dogs I have had. His parents are Double Dot and Spy whelped Sept 1st.  I have been working with him in the field since I received him and he is making great progress. I have had him out to a local hunting preserve this past week were he had his first experience with live birds in a simulated hunting situation.  He displayed no problems with guns and located 5 of 5 birds planted about 100 yards apart. He also located all the downed birds.  We named him speck.  I have attached a couple of pics one of them is his point on our hunt yesterday.  Have a great Easter!  Thanks again,  S.C. ........................ Iowa

Hello this is B.L.  Just dropping a line to let you know the pup is doing fine  tired but doing good  Well my wait is finally over and it has been like an eternity  But I must say he is worth the wait   You said he was a nice looking pup but you sold yourselves short I think he is drop dead gorgeous All my friends and sons think so. I took him to visit my hunting buddy . He has sixteen dogs and hunts with five at a time and usually has five or six litters a year He said he really acts like he will make a good one  He raises pheasant and guinnies  We got five or six flash points out of him  each one got a little longer. He didn't go around the kennel much he stayed around the birds I think I have a permanent smile on my face  Like Dez Young say's never spoil your bird dog I won't He is laying at my feet asleep as I write  Anyway he is safe and sound all is well and you guy's are in my prayers and thank you from the bottom of my heart   you sent me something priceless   B.L.   ..........
